Brittain on battery selection for floorcare in CMM
What to consider when choosing a floor machine battery? Trojan's Darren Brittain provides a guide for decision-making
Cleaning & Maintenance Management recently published an article by Darren Brittain, Trojan Senior Director for Portfolio Strategy. The article, “How Battery Selection Impacts Reliability and Performance of Floor Care Equipment,” was published in CMM Online.
In the article, Brittain describes factors to consider when choosing a battery for optimized floor machine performance, operation, charging, and return-on-investment.
Brittain wrote, "Installing the proper battery will increase your equipment’s reliability, enable it to achieve optimal cycle times, and improve its lifetime value." He compares and contrasts the three main battery types—flooded lead acid, valve-regulated lead acid, and lithium batteries.
Other factors in choosing the right floor machine battery
Brittain goes on to explain how deep cycling capacity and partial-state-of-charge, or PSoC, can affect cycle time, battery service life, and ROI.
He recommends taking these important qualities into account—as well as battery testing results and warranties—when selecting batteries for your floor cleaning equipment.
